“By voting in favour of this resolution, your government will send a strong signal to the Iranian authorities that the international community requires genuine and tangible improvements in the country on core human rights issues, in line with Iran’s treaty obligations and repeated commitments,” said the statement signed by leading human rights organizations including the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI). “Your vote will also allow the continuation of a mandate that has proved vital for the advancement of human rights in Iran and yielded important gains,” added the statement, which was sent to the missions on March 12, 2018.
