A member of the organization which was giving a presentation at a school on the Baie Verte Peninsula on LGBTQ issues says things are improving but she was disappointed to see only a handful of students turn out. Some parents at MSB Regional Academy kept their children home instead of listening to the presentation on equal rights. Only 13 students were in the classroom by the time the national organization “Get Real” was scheduled. The action has created a firestorm on social media with some people saying such a presentation has no place in the classroom but others saying it’s part of trying to ensure schools are a safe place for everyone.
