The LGBT community in Mexico is taking a stand against homophobia in one of best ways possible. They’re proudly kissing each other in public. For heterosexual couples, public displays of affection are something taken for granted. But for LGTB people around the world, a public kiss can risk harassment, intimidation and even violence. What should just be an act of love between two people has now become a political statement. So, to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia on Thursday, hundreds of people lined the streets of Mexico City to pucker up. The fifth annual ‘Kissathon’ saw members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and intersex community raise awareness of their human rights, joining similar protests all over the world.
