This month is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month. In the first story of our week-long series on China’s LGBT community, we take you to the 10th anniversary of the Shanghai Pride festival. As the world observes LGBT pride this month, China’s budding LGBT communities are playing their part. This week, the Shanghai Pride festival is celebrating its 10th year with a series of cultural events. Although Shanghai Pride is the first public event held annually to honor LGBT pride in mainland China, it has never included flamboyant parades like in the West.
